The 2025 BAFTA Nominations have been announced, and to much surprise, highly-anticipated films like Queer, Challengers, Babygirl, and Paddington In Peru did not make the cut. However, Golden Globe-winning Adrian Brody's The Brutalist has secured a spot on the list alongside Zoe Saldana's Emilia Perez.
The Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown has also been nominated along with Conclave and Anora. However, Golden Globe-nominated movies like Queer and Challengers were dropped off the nominations.
Furthermore, Nicole Kidman's Babygirl and Paddington In Peru also did not make it to the BAFTA nominees despite positive box-office responses. The latter even grossed $43 million in the United Kingdom, thereby setting a big debut record for any British film since 2021. Moreover, Gladiator II star Denzel Washington also did not get any recognition from the BAFTA, as per the latest reports.

The Daniel Craig starrer Queer has been a hot topic for quite some time, despite its mixed reviews and unexpected box-office results. Moreover, Zendaya's Challengers has an 88% score on RT and grossed $96 million at the box office globally.
So, these two movies being dropped off the list has raised a social media tumult. On the other hand, Cynthia Erivo's Wicked getting rejected has also caught the audience's eye. But Erivo did make the cut for a place in the best lead actress category.
Following her stint at the Golden Globes, it was expected that Nicole Kidman would bag a nomination for her performance in Babygirl, but that, however, went unnoticed, per Deadline.
One of the most moving news, as per the latest reports, is Denzel Washington not receiving a BAFTA nomination. The ten-time Oscar-nominated star again was unnoticed by BAFTA despite his role in Gladiator II, reports.
