After months of anticipation, Kendrick Lamar delivered a power-packed performance during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

K. Dot lived up to the expectations of many of his fans when he performed Not Like Us and got the Super Bowl crowd to scream “A Minor.” Following his performance, many praised the rapper, while some displayed their displeasure, arguing that Lamar was more focused on his beef against Drake.

YouTuber and Twitch streamer PlaqueBoyMax is also a part of the crowd who felt disappointed after Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show. The content creator, who was vlogging the game from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, was seemingly unimpressed by Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us. Reacting to K.Dot’s Super Bowl performance, PlaqueBoyMax said,

“Kendrick, you are way bigger than this. I’m going to keep it so a buck… This is the Super Bowl, what he probably going to do this one time. Bro, he way better than just a n**** who diss Drake. Honestly, he’s way better than just the n**** who dissed Drake. That should not be this n**** career.”

PlaqueBoyMax, who believed that Lamar had many classics but chose to focus on Not Like Us, further added,

“And I know n****s wanna see Drake fall. And I know n****s want, you know what I’m saying, it’s a great moment, ‘A Minor!’ But like bro? Like this n**** didn’t. No Money Trees, no We Gon’ Be Alright [Alright]. Bro this n**** play some classics, bro. ‘F*** who you know—where you from, my n****’. Like you know, bro he could have bro. None of that bro.”

The YouTuber also claimed that many at the arena were not vibing to Lamar. He further proclaimed that someone like Playboi Carti would have been a better choice over Kendrick, as the Magnolia rapper would have got many to vibe. However, PlaqueBoyMax did agree that Kendrick Lamar got the crowd to erupt with his “A Minor” bar.

In September 2024, the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation jointly announced K. Dot as the headline performer for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Following the event, Lamar also won five Grammy Awards for his diss track, Not Like Us, aimed at Drake. Thus, many expected the Compton rapper to use the song during his Super Bowl halftime performance.

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, Lamar and the crew of performers made their entrance to the stage inspired by a PS controller. Interestingly, the Pulp Fiction star, Samuel L Jackson, made multiple appearances during the show while dressed as Uncle Sam. Through his recurring character, the Nick Fury actor provided satirical commentary.

Kendrick Lamar performed 11 tracks, including a snippet from his unreleased song Bodies. In the first half of his performance, Kendrick teased Not Like Us but moved on to his other songs. For Luther and All the Stars, SZA joined Lamar on the stage. Following this, he finally delivered Not Like Us, during which the tennis icon Serena Williams was seen crip walking.

Many felt that K.Dot was once again targeting Drizzy with Not Like Us. The appearances from SZA and Williams, both of whom were once rumored to be dating the Canadian rapper, sparked the speculations further.

Finally, Kendrick Lamar brought Mustard to perform TV Off, culminating with lights going off and wristbands worn by the crowd illuminating “Game Over.”
