A viral video showing a man planting an unwanted kiss on pop sensation Christina Aguilera's cheek is going viral, drawing the ire of the internet.
The incident took place at the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, when the artist was engaging with her fans abroad. She was spotted mingling with fans and handing out autographs when a man approached her and kissed her.
The internet has since begun scrutinizing the man intensely. Here's what one user said, for instance:
"Personal space and consent matter… no one should ever cross those boundaries, no matter the setting. It was unethical !"
Scores of users online joined the discourse with their own opinions and remarks:
"you can only kiss a famous person if they kiss you first," someone opined.
"just because a man is gay doesn’t give him validation to kiss and touch women without consent!" another noted.
"Ew!! And he had the audacity to approach her again after her security man hushed him away? Yikes!!" a third person exclaimed.
"This is not okay. Personal boundaries must always be respected, no matter who you are. Sending love to Christina," one user tweeted.
The comments didn't end there, as users online were visibly teeming with opinions:
"her trying to ignore & stay calm for the fans.. women really do need RESPECT," one user demanded.
"DISGUSTING!!!!! poor xtina," another opined.
"Christina Aguilera just wanted to greet fans, and now it’s a whole new level of "unwanted attention."," someone else pointed out.
"The fact that he still tried to take a picture with her after all that. JAIL," another demanded.
Several users began calling for jail time for the man, noting that, celebrity or not, his actions towards Christina Aguilera was inappropriate.

In the rest of the video, the singer, who was visibly shocked, flinched and took a step back, though she decided to brush the incident off and continue signing and interacting with fans. Nonetheless, the man showed no signs of slowing down, even after someone from Christina's security team pushed him away.
Instead, he tried to come closer and take even more selfies with her, prompting Christina Aguilera to cut the meet-and-greet short and head back. Her team flanked her and acted as her shield while escorting her away from the limelight.
The singer is no stranger to showbiz, having started as a child performer. She told Allure magazine:
"I've grown up in this business. I started performing at six or seven and then I broke when I was a teenager. No matter what you do, you're going to have people that hate on you. The bigger you are and the more successful, unfortunately, that comes with more hate or more scrutiny. And I'm a very sensitive person, but I'm also very tough at the end of the day. Social media wasn't around when I was coming up, and now I feel bad for people that don't want to be in the business and just look at comments."
At the time of writing, the video has been taken down from X, and no other copies can be found online.
Christina Aguilera is slated to perform at Farmasi Arena on February 6, 2025. She will also be headline a festival at Allianz Parque in São Paulo on February 8, 2025.
