Taraji P. Henson and Jenna Bush Hager defended Blue Ivy Carter's gold strapless gown after netizens commented that the look wasn't age-appropriate for the 13-year-old.

During a January 14 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, Taraji P. Henson, while commenting on Jay-Z and Beyonce's youngest daughter's outfit at the Mufasa: The Lion King premiere, said,

"It's so beautiful. I thought she was age appropriate. She looked like a princess."

Bush "totally agreed" with Taraji and said,

"For anybody that says differently, we say bye-bye."

Taraji also added,

"People need to shut up! It was very classy."

Blue Ivy Carter wore a strappy gold metallic gown with a sweetheart neckline designed by Project Runway alum Christian Siriano, who revealed that he and his team only had two days to make the gown. Siriano mentioned that they wanted Ivy to look like royalty in the dress. Siriano, while commenting on the gown, mentioned,

"What girl doesn't want to have a princess moment? And when your parents are Beyonce and Jay-Z, what are you supposed to wear? A doily? Like, you're not going to wear a tutu. You want to look like a star, come on."

"Kindness really matters" - Taraji P. Henson reacts to trolls about Blue Ivy Carter

While expressing her opinion on Blue Ivy Carter's outfit at the Mufasa: The Lion King premiere, Taraji P. Henson called out trolls who called the dress not age-appropriate. Henson reminded netizens to be kind, especially when it's a "child," and urged everyone to keep "our opinions to ourselves."

"Kindness really matters, and it's not as easy to do. You can sit on your phone and Twitter your thumbs all you want to, but let's see you get on the red carpet and pull off a look."

Bush, while agreeing with Henson, mentioned that the dress resonated with the color themes of the film, in which Blue voices Kiara's character. The journalist mentioned that the outfit was "what she (Blue) should be wearing."

Christina Milan also defended Ivy during an appearance on Sherri Shepherd's talk show Sherri in December 2024. Milan mentioned that people should just "mind your business," especially when they are expressing opinions on "someone else's daughter" or "any minor."

Milan described Ivy as "talented," considering that she has "toured the world with her mom." Host Sherri also defended Ivy's outfit, mentioning that she disagreed with the public comments and added that the star looks like a "fairy princess."
