Patrick Schwarzenegger shares some details about his failed Superman audition during his interview with journalist Josh Horowitz. The actor recently appeared in Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he spoke in detail about a range of topics. One of them was his audition for superhero characters.
Horowitz asked Schwarzenegger about the superhero roles he has auditioned for so far. The 31-year-old actor revealed that he has auditioned for only three such roles, one of them being Superman, which eventually went to David Corenswet. Horowitz asked whether Schwarzenegger got in the costume to audition for the role of Superman.
"No, I don't think I got any feedback [to the audition self-tape]. It's like, no, not for you."
Besides the DC superhero, Schwarzenegger auditioned for Homelander in The Boys and Golden Boy in Gen V. The former role went to Antony Starr. The latter became a part of Schwarzenegger's filmography. The actor also discussed the new interview process that relies on Zoom and audition tapes instead of in-person auditions.
“It’s just one person on the screen and when they talk, they’re on it and then you talk and it switches to you. So, it’s really weird doing a scene with someone because sometimes they’ll be mid talk and you say something, and it’ll switch to you and then it’s really distracting and weird.”

The rest of the cast includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, Anthony Carrigan, and Skyler Gisondo in key roles.
Gunn has written and directed this film, slated for a July 11 theatrical release across the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures.
