"No other streamer has motion like this” — Netizens react to IShowSpeed being named the Mayor of Lima, Peru for an hour

IShowSpeed got the chance to be the mayor of Lima, Peru for a brief time during his tour of Peru as part of his South American tour. The streamer arrived unannounced on January 28, 2025, at Jorge Chaves Airport wearing the jersey of the Peruvian national football team.

During his visit, he took to the balcony of the Municipality of Lima declaring that he's the new mayor of Peru in Spanish deriving an echo from his fans. While giving a speech in Spanish, the streamer announced,

"Now I am the new mayor of Peru. Peru, I will never forget this moment."

He was welcomed by Lima's mayor, Rafael Lopez Aliaga, and was humorously appointed by him as the city's ambassador. Aliaga jokingly mentioned,

"You are now the ambassador of Lima and the Peruvian country."

FearBuck posted a video on X of the streamer's interaction with Aliaga, with netizens taking to the comment section to express their surprise.

iShowSpeed while filming his tour of Peru's capital city, Lima tried various kinds of Peruvian delicacies including ceviche, fried cuy, salchipapa, Inca Kola soda, and the iconic "King Kong" dessert.

His livestream session pulled a massive number of views, adding up to almost 500,000 viewers with over 100,000 new subscribers joining his channel within just one hour. While reacting to the viewership and subcriber surge, the streamer exclaimed,

"Oh my God, we did it! One hundred thousand subs in one hour! Oh my God! Yo, Peru's crazy!"

The Peruvian government also presented Speed with a Cristiano Ronaldo and anime series One Piece themed cake, to which he reacted by saying,

iShowSpeed was the mayor of the city for one whole hour, with his name being included in the Wikipedia page in the list of Lima's Mayors. Speed's visit to Lima comes after Mayor Rafael Lopez Aliaga posted on Facebook inviting streamers to the city.
