Succession star Sarah Snook who recently began her one-woman show, The Picture of Dorian Gray on Broadway, mentioned that she took inspiration from Taylor Swift while preparing for the role. While speaking to The New Yorker on March 16, Sarah Snook mentioned that she followed Taylor's Eras Tour technique where she said:
"No alcohol, no caffeine. Sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep. And I do my lines at pace on a treadmill. I heard that (Taylor Swift did that) and thought, 'That's a genius idea. I'm gonna do that."
Sarah Snook plays all 26 characters of the two-hour show, requiring her to stay fit and healthy. To deliver all the roles successfully, the actress modulates her voice when playing Dorian, or his love interest, Sibyl Vane. She also changes her body language to suit the character, undergoes 19 costume changes, wears multiple wigs, and relies on 15 crew members to ensure the show's success.
What is Taylor Swift's routine that inspired Sarah Snook?
Sarah Snook plays 26 characters in the Broadway adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Grey over two hours and undeniably needs a lot of energy to pull the characters off. While speaking to The New Yorker in a recent interview, the actress mentioned that she takes inspiration from Taylor Swift's Eras Tour training regime.
In an interview with Time Magazine in December 2023, Taylor Swift revealed the rigorous workout routine she started six months before starting her first Eras Tour concert in March 2023.
Swift would sing the full setlist from the tour while running on the treadmill, and would run "fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs."
The singer revealed that she gave up on alcohol while on the tour and was "working out in between shows (to) keep my strength and stamina up."
"I did not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there. It's a dream scenario, (and) I can barely speak because I've been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step, my feet go crunch, crunch from dancing in heels. But it's the most fulfilled I've ever felt."
The pop icon started her Eras tour on March 17, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona, and concluded it in Vancouver, British Columbia on December 8, 2024.
