Harris Dickinson's (Samuel) role in Babygirl wasn't something even the best of men couldn't handle, but he did it just fine. To that, Nicole Kidman (Romy Mathis), who stars opposite him in the film, has nothing but praise for the English actor.

The film that met with critical and commercial success was given a theatrical release on December 25, 2024, and has garnered $38 million against the film's $20 million budget. As for the ratings, the Tomatometer reached a 77% approval rating but remained at 48% when the popcorn meter was concerned.

Given that it's an erotic thriller, critics have compared it to Dakota Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

Nicole Kidman, who has been working in the industry for as early as 1983 recently praised Dickinson in an email to The Hollywood Reporter. She wrote that,

"Harris has talked before about being shy or unsure of how to play the character, but I never felt that once as we made this project. Harris is a brilliant actor — I can’t imagine doing this project with anyone else. I know he’s going to be a massive star."

The Halina Rejin-directed film appeared in a range of nominations and both the leads, alongside her, managed to swipe a few of them home. Moreover, several publications added it to their best films list of the year.

Rejin wasn't sure about how she would be going about the film after signing Kidman for the role. It was an issue as he wanted someone who had the quality of a boy and a man packed into one. She said,

"The boy and the man in one. The father and the child in one person. Even his height, because I needed someone who could handle her physically."

While Harris' was praised by his co-star in the film, Nicole Kidman herself was lauded for her portrayal of a fearless CEO having an affair with an intern in her own company. Other than the leads, Antonio Banderas (Jacob Mathis) and Sophie Wilde (Esme) made Babygirl more gripping owing to their roles.

Antonio Banderas plays the husband who isn't able to satisfy his CEO wife and he is even unaware of it. That is basically the problem in the story that needed solving. Later in Babygirl, Sophie Wilde becomes a rising conflict when she tells Kidman's character that she knows about the affair and then leverages it to her advantage.

Babygirl is currently streaming on Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.
