During a joint interview with French content creator Crazy Sally, Ariana Grande opened up about public opinion on her appearance. The singer-actor got emotional as she recalled mean comments she has heard throughout her career and said,

"I've been kind of doing this in front of the public and been a specimen in a Petri dish really since I was 16 or 17. I have heard it all. I've heard every version of it. You're young and you're hearing all kinds of things."

While talking about how she deals with all the negative comments, Ariana Grande said that it's hard to protect oneself from all the noise and it's not just outside comments that she had been hearing. She then talked about going to Thanksgiving dinners and someone's granny making comments on how "skinny" or "heavier" she appeared to be.

After Grande's comments were reposted by Pop Crave on X, users took to the comment section to show sympathy for the singer.

Users related to Grande's emotional response and noted that no one deserves to be hearing unsolicited harsh opinions.

"it’s never okay to be so rude about someone’s appearance" - a user commented
"Good for her, she doesn't need that negativity. She's focusing on herself now." - another user commented
"this is sad, she’s literally one of the most beautiful women ever it’s upsetting people would treat her like that :(" - a user emphathised
"“dangerous for all parties involved” ooo i hope her team starts suing all these incel accounts" - a user suggested

"Be gentle with each other and yourselves" - says Ariana Grande

This isn't the first time Ariana Grande has responded to comments about her body. In 2023, Grande took to TikTok to share a message about what it feels to be a person "with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to",

"I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people's bodies, no matter what. If you think you're saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is - healthy, unhealthy, big, small, this, that, s*xy, not s*xy...we just shouldn't, we should really work towards not doing that as much."

The actress revealed that she was on a "lot of antidepressants" and was eating poorly when she was at the "lowest point" in her life. In the end, she mentioned that people should be mindful since they never know what "someone is going through."

'So even if you are coming from a loving place or a caring place, that person is probably working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with. You never know, so be gentle with each other."

Ariana Grande then went on to note that she was not wearing any eyelashes, or makeup and asked people to not "freak out" over how her face looked without any makeup.
