Fans will already recognize these characters, but they can have a closer look at the latest Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning posters, which Paramount Pictures just released. The 15 posters showcase a hanging Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) from a plane, Benji (Simon Pegg) showing off the Key to the Entity, Paris (Pom Klementieff) in handcuffs, and more.

We are about to witness the biggest film in the franchise, speaking commercially, given that the film has a reported production budget of $400 million. The latest trailer, which also gave us some thrilling details about the film, showed how it was being used.

Before the Tom Cruise film hits the theaters, it will first be premiered at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival, which is scheduled from May 13 to May 24, 2025. The premiere will happen on the second day of its commencement.

It will be among the films picked to screen out of competition with others in the category, including Highest 2 Lowest, Honey Don't!, and more. Other than that, films like Joaquin Phoenix's Eddington, John Magaro's The Mastermind, and more will be screened in competition.

Is it the final film in the franchise?

While the title may suggest that we may not see another film in the franchise, Director Christopher McQuarrie has clarified that Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning might not be the end. Maybe an end to Ethan Hunt, but we may see a spin-off in the series where another character is brought into the fold.

Speaking of which, fans were hoping that the film would feature Jeremy Renner's William Brandt, who has appeared in Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation. He can be a good choice for a potential spin-off—he had done that in the Jason Bourne films, where he was the main protagonist, Operation Outcome agent Aaron Cross, in The Bourne Legacy (2012).

But then the franchise has given us so many characters throughout the years that fans would love to see more backstories after Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning comes out of theaters.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning will be released globally on May 23, 2025.
