New footage from Jurassic World Rebirth was shown at the 2025 CinemaCon, and it offered the kind of chills that the franchise fans will be well aware of. This new footage has yet to arrive online, but the sources who attended this event have shared their impressions. From the sound of it, this sci-fi franchise might just be going back to its roots.

Based on the details revealed so far, the footage offers a few snippets from the film's trailer. Deadline reports that the clip begins in an eerily white lab where one person gets stuck inside, which leads to an immediate panic. The rest of the footage shows Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), and Dr Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) trying to leave an island on a boat. Everyone is worried for their survival.

Screenrant notes that the footage includes some snippets similar to the previous Jurassic Park films. They mention a part of a scene where,

"Zora lures a raptor-like dinosaur away from the others, running towards a Jeep — similar to what Ian does in The Lost World."

So, Jurassic World Rebirth might be taking the franchise back to its cinematic roots, potentially offering some throwbacks and similar thrills seen in the formative films. However, we will have to wait until the film's release to know whether this holds any water.

Jurassic World Rebirth: What does the Gareth Edwards movie have in store for us?

Jurassic World Rebirth takes place nearly half a decade after the events from Chris Pratt-led Jurassic World Dominion. Unlike before, the stakes rest upon the fact that dinosaurs stay on an isolated island.

They may not sneak up on people anywhere as before but they will still be difficult to pacify. Zora takes a team of talented people to recover their DNA, but the trouble is always a few steps away, judging from the reports from CinemaCon.

The aforementioned footage was shown along with a live orchestra playing the classic Jurassic Park musical theme.

“We put ourselves in a place where we don’t belong. Survival is a long shot,” Bailey's character says as he joins Zora and Duncan on their lucrative quest.

They find new kinds of species, like flying dinos, along with the creatures that were seen in the most recent Jurassic World movies. As they try to understand the remains of older theme parks, someone mentions,

“Two dozen species have survived here alone — the theme park owner did experimental work leaving the worst ones here."

Gareth Edwards has directed Jurassic World Rebirth from David Koepp's script for Universal Pictures. The cast also includes Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Audrina Miranda, David Iacono, Ed Skrein, Bechir Sylvain, and Philippine Velge.

Jurassic World Rebirth will hit the US theaters on July 2, 2025.
