Netflix’s Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney premiered on March 12, 2025. In the episode, Mulaney discussed his wife, Olivia Munn’s cancer journey. In 2024, Munn shared an Instagram post mentioning that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. While talking about his wife, Mulaney said:

“There’s a thing called cancer brain, not brain cancer. Cancer brain. It’s a sweet, wonderful dumbness that happens after all that challenging treatment.”

On March 13, 2025, Netflix shared a clip from the episode on X in which the comedian joked about certain drugs, saying he couldn’t use them anymore and, so, it wasn’t his problem. The streaming platform reshared the clip with the caption:

“John Mulaney is your problem now. #EverybodysLive.”

John Mulaney acknowledged the support and kind messages people have sent regarding Olivia Munn’s battle with breast cancer. He was grateful for the encouragement and support they received. He also shared how difficult it has been to watch someone he loves endure such a challenging experience.

The comedian praised her resilience and called her inspiring. He joked about how the effects of the process had sometimes impacted her cognitive abilities. Sharing an anecdote, he said:

“We went to a fertility doctor, we were going to make embryos. This was after Olivia had a double mastectomy, but before her hysterectomy and ovariectomy. We were going to make embryos for what eventually became our daughter this fall.”

John Mulaney said Olivia Munn’s cancer came to light through a “lifetime risk assessment test”

During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning on March 9, 2025, host Tracy Smith complimented how bravely Olivia Munn handled her cancer journey. When asked whether her resilience amazed him, John Mulaney said:

“With how much she likes to keep private, like the desire to come forward was really brave but it was also really specific. It was really deliberate. There is this lifetime risk assessment test, that is really the only reason her cancer was discovered and she thought it was absolutely paramount that other women know about it and get it done.”

John Mulaney praised Olivia Munn for her determination to raise awareness about breast cancer while undergoing treatment herself. He described how she fully committed to spreading the message and handled everything strongly.

When Smith asked what it was like for him to see her go through the process, Mulaney highlighted how being sick was an all-consuming responsibility. From the moment she was diagnosed, she had to quickly navigate consultations with various specialists.

He compared the process to a full-time job, managing a packed schedule that included a double mastectomy, hormone therapy, and an oophorectomy. Amid all of this, they also worked on fertility treatments to preserve embryos. On top of everything, Olivia Munn prioritized outreach efforts, which he found truly impressive.

John Mulaney said he often finds himself in awe that he not only knows Olivia Munn but is also married to her. He admires her and sometimes worries she takes on too much. However, he recognizes how much her health means to her and appreciates her dedication to the family and her well-being.

He saw her not as someone losing herself in the challenges she faces but as someone who continues to grow and expand in remarkable ways.
