HBO's upcoming star studded project brings some of the best in business together as it explores the fateful life of four wealthy men who find themselves on the top of a mountainhead amidst chaos in the world. Most likely to be a satirical comedy with social commentary, the film's first trailer looks promising and fresh, as we get ready to dive into what could be HBO’s next big hit.

The film is being helmed by Jesse Armstrong, after his immense success as the genius behind Succession. It is being produced by Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod and Jill Footlick. Announcing the film in March, the director stated:

“I’m intrigued to discover whether being around so many brilliant actors and directors on ‘Succession’ has in any way rubbed off on me. Let’s hope so. I’m grateful to Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi and the whole HBO team for backing this film so wholeheartedly and helping me pull together a dream team of cast and crew.”

The film is set to release on May 31, 2025.

The film revolves around Randall (Steve Carell), Hugo Van Yalk aka Souper (Jason Schwartzman), Venis (Cory Michael Smith) and Jeff (Ramy Youssef) who are visiting Mouth Techmore as the world behind them collapses. They go through headlines like “Sectarian Violence Escalates in India” and “President of Uzbekistan Forced to Move to Secret Location", showing the instability in the world. The trailer opens with the four men meeting up as they discuss each other's business. At one point, a conversation happens where Cory Michael Smith' Venis asks the rest:

"You guys getting this panic buying and violence?"

To which Carrell's Randall responds and says:

"This is a serious moment. I think that is why I'm so excited about these atrocities. I'm thinking about all of the people who are not killing each other."

Soon after, Venis lets the gang know that the President wants to speak to the group. Confused, Youssef's Jeff asks what the President could possible have to talk to them. Venis responds:

"That your platform's inflamed a volatile situation, circulating unfalsifiable deepfakes, massive fraud, market instability."

The film will be Armstrong's debut film and will most likely be a pleasant watch, considering his successful run with Succession. More details about the plot are kept under wraps for now as principal photography only began in March this year.

In April, Youssef spoke to Variety about the film and teased that it is loosely inspired by a few real life billionaires, although he did not specify who. Talking about the film, the actor said:

“‘Succession’ is one of the best comedies ever made — and this film is certainly funny in the same way. Jesse’s writing is on another level. It’s really hard to find something of that caliber, so getting to do it was such a joy.”

Mountainhead will release on May 31 on Max.
