Actress Mikey Madison received the Oscar Award for Best Actress, last Sunday. She was nominated alongside Fernanda Torres, Karla Sofia Gascon, Demi Moore, and Cynthia Erivo. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on March 4, 2025, Madison said she was still trying to come to grips with her win.
When asked whether she thought she would win the award, her response was a vehement no. She said:
“Absolutely not. No, I didn’t. Absolutely not. Last-minute, I was like, “I should just write down a bunch of names just in case, even if only to just have a list of names for myself.” And I’m glad that I did, because I got to read them! But I would have wanted to be a little more studious and prepared.”
Mikey Madison mentioned speaking to two of her fellow nominees after winning the award. Madison met Fernanda and they hugged. She said she adores Demi Moore and also texted her. Speaking of The Substance actress, she said:
“I texted with Demi, who I adore. She’s one of the sweetest, kindest women I’ve ever met, and I’m so grateful that I was able to meet her and witness her brilliance and talent in person. I adore her and I can’t wait to see what she does next, what kind of characters she brings us.”
When asked if winning an Oscar was her dream, Mikey Madison admitted she had always been a big daydreamer, something she inherited from her father. While she never imagined it becoming a reality, she enjoyed thinking about it.
For the awards night, she was joined by her twin brother Miles, her younger brother, one of her sisters, Natasha, her parents, and her team.

When asked if she had rehearsed her reaction to winning, Mikey Madison said she hadn’t, because it was a celebration for her. Although she had mixed feelings, she was genuinely happy to be in that room with the talented actors. She described the experience as overwhelming, humbling, and joyful.
She met the other awardees including Zoe Saldaña and Adrien Brody backstage. Madison received the plaque for her Oscar at the Governor's Ball. She also attended a few after-parties, including Vanity Fair, Neon, and Guy Oseary’s event.
She ended the night celebrating with her family, enjoying good food, and cutting a cake together. After the win, Mikey Madison said:
“I wanted to message my best friend right away, because she wasn’t able to be there, so I went to message her and I saw all these funny texts from people, like my doctor and this guy that sold me a carpet a couple of weeks ago.”
The Anora actress credited Quentin Tarantino for introducing her to the film industry. She admitted she used to dream of being in movies, especially working with Tarantino.
Madison said Tarantino reignited her passion for filmmaking and reminded her of the dream she wanted to pursue. She said years later, filmmaker Sean Baker first noticed her in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and then in Scream.
