Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger relationship timeline explored as former ballerina confirms engagement

The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and his longtime girlfriend Melanie Hamrick have been engaged for a few years. The couple usually keeps details of their personal life away from the public light. However, Hamrick recently confirmed their engagement.

For the unversed, the couple has known each other since 2014 and have been romantically involved for more than a decade. Hamrick is a former ballet dancer and was born in Williamsburg, Virginia. She enrolled at the Kirov Academy of Ballet as a scholarship student and trained with Alla Sizova under instructors Adrienne Dellas and Nicolai Morozov.

She has had an impressive career in the dance form and has achieved a lot in it. In 2004, she joined the American Ballet Theatre and performed in Apollo, Balanchine's Theme And Variations, The Nutcracker, and more. About ten years later, while being a part of the theatre, she met her future fiance.

In February 2014, both The Rolling Stones and The American Ballet Theatre were on tour in Tokyo. Melanie Hamrick and her friends met the band backstage at their concert. While they did not immediately hit it off, Jagger later invited Hamrick to Zurich.

They soon started dating and two years later welcomed their son Deveraux Octavian Basil. Jagger was already a father of seven before he met Hamrick. His seven children are: Karis, Elizabeth, Jade, James, Georgia, Lucas, and Gabriel. While many are aware of Jagger's extravagant life, he has had several high-profile affairs.

Throughout his life, Mick Jagger has dated Cleo Sylvestre, Chrissie Shrimpton, Marianne Faithfull, Marsha Hunt, Anita Pallenberg, model and future First Lady of France Carla Bruni, Sophie Dagl, and L'Wren Scott. He has also been married twice: first to Bianca Jagger and later to Jerry Hall. Despite being together for more than two decades, it was revealed that Hall and Jagger were never married legally, and their marriage was annulled.

Melanie Hamrick confirms engagement with Mick Jagger

Both Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick have kept their relationship to themselves. The couple rarely shares their photos on Instagram and occasionally talk about their private life. However, during a recent interview with the French publication Paris March, Melanie Hamrick confirmed that she has been engaged to her 81-year-old boyfriend for a few years. She said,

"We've been engaged two or three years."

Despite their years-long relationship, getting married is not on the plate at the moment. Hamrick said,

"Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything."

Talking about the secret to their long-term relationship, Hamrick said that she and Jagger "try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy. That's all that matters to me and all I strive for."

This is not the first time Melanie Hamrick has talked about the engagement. About two years ago, while talking to People Magazine, Hamrick got candid about the ring on her finger. She was promoting her debut novel First Position and talking about the chunky diamond on her finger.

"I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes."

She further added that they are not like "h*rny teenagers" and that the ring is "a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring."
