Robert Pattinson's Batman joining the DCU is currently one of the most highly anticipated events, and director Matt Reeves has not fully ruled out the possibility yet. The success of the first movie, followed by Colin Farrell's The Penguin, has left fans excited and wondering about the future of the character.
Lately, there have been a lot of questions about whether Robert should be a part of the DCU. According to reports, internal discussions with James Gunn have already been done, and he has initially decided against it. However, there are still chances for Robert Pattinson to be cast as the DCU Batman, as we do not have any other star suited to play Bruce Wayne so far.
Matt Reeves talks about Robert Pattinson becoming the DCU Batman
On the red carpet of the 2025 Golden Globes, the man at the helm of The Batman, Matt Reeves, opened up to Josh Horowitz about Robert's Bruce Wayne. He reportedly said:
"I mean, it really comes down to whether or not it makes sense. What's been great is there was a story that I wanted to tell that we're calling The Epic Crime Saga, which is the thrust of what we wanted to do. It's been important to me to be able to play that out. James and Peter have been really, really great about that, and they're letting us do that."
On the other hand, fans have been eagerly awaiting The Batman II, and the production delay was earlier justified by Matt's remaining work on the script. The highly anticipated sequel starring Robert Pattinson and Golden Globe-winning Penguin, aka Colin Farrell, was thus pushed back by one more year.
Amidst all the Robert-DCU rumors and Andy Muschetti's The Brave And The Bold being delayed, the future of James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU still remains uncertain. The Batman director Reeves has also addressed the situation, saying:
"What the future brings, I can't really tell you. I have no idea right now, except that my head is down now about getting The Batman Part II shooting and to make it something special, which is, of course, the most important thing."
