Avengers: Doomsday is making a wild entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the studio held a five hour live event to announce the upcoming film's cast, that consisted of several surprises and several comebacks, consisting of some integral members of the MCU who will return for the next Avengers film.

The live video creatively showed chairs on set that had actors' names written on them, as they announced a new name every 15-or-so minutes. Starting off with the predictable cast updates of Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie and Joseph Quinn, the studio then went on to unveil some unexpected names, making Avengers: Doomsday one of their biggest and most star studded projects to date. The video ended with the last cast update being Robert Downey Jr, as the actor shows up on screen, with the next message being that the film is under production now.

The first name announced was Chris Hemsworth, confirming that the God of Thunder will be returning for the next Avengers film, along with Tom Hiddleston's Loki. It would certainly be interesting to see how the two brothers reunite, and which variant of Loki will be a part of the film.

The Thunderbolts, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are also returning. Among the X-Men, Patrick Stewart as Prof. X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cuming as Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer as Beast and, surprisingly, Channing Tatum as Gambit.

The studio has announced a total of twenty six actors through the live event, but sources have revealed that there are more names along the way.

More of the cast included Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Lewis Pullman as The Sentry, Danny Ramirez as The Falcon, Winston Duke as M'Baku and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.

Avengers: Doomsday is bringing back Anthony and Joe Russo who will be collaborating with Marvel after the long break they took from the studio after the release of Avengers: Endgame. The star studded cast Marvel has just announced tells us that things will be chaotic and the world will be in a frenzy with so many of the superheroes showing up.

The cast does not include certain important members of the MCU, such as the Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff, Bruce Banner aka Hulk, Vision, Peter Parker aka Spider -Man, and more. But knowing the studio, more information can surely be awaited as it comes under Marvel's usual pre-release customs to drop Easter eggs even days before release.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on May 1, 2026.
