Gwyneth Paltrow’s role in Marvel’s Iron Man franchise has been pivotal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark’s longtime partner, Pepper Potts. Paltrow went on to feature in seven Marvel films.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the actress expressed surprise after realisisng she has gone on to play Pepper Potts in seven different films as she said:

“That cant be right. I can’t have been in seven. Is that true?”

It is true! Paltrow was seen in all three Iron Man films, all three Avengers films, and Spiderman: Homecoming. She has been a central part of Iron Man’s life, being part of one of the most crucial scenes in Endgame when her character says goodbye to Stark.

Talking about her role in the film, Paltrow added:

“We had so much fun on this movie. It felt like an independent movie. Jon [Favreau], Robert [Downey Jr.] and I improvised all day every day. There was a lot of rewriting. We’d go to Jon’s trailer in the morning and the three of us would improv. It’s not typical to do that on a big-budget action movie. Jon was so brilliant and he wanted it to feel like it had a reality to it and that it was character-based.”

She also talked about how the massive success the franchise was surprising to the team as she quipped:

“There was no pressure on us. “Nobody thought it would turn into anything. The studio felt they had taken this big risk with Robert as a leading man and it probably won’t even be a hit. And then it came out and it changed the course of that studio.”

After taking a long break from Hollywood, Gwyneth Paltrow is all set to return for Marty Supreme, starring alongside fresh SAG awardee Timothee Chalamet. The film is set to be loosely inspired by table tennis player Marty Reisman. Paltrow described her role as:

“This woman who is married to someone who is in the Ping-Pong mafia, as it were. They meet and she’s had a pretty tough life, and I think he breathes life back into her, but it’s kind of transactional for them both.”

Describing her co-star as a “thinking man’s sex symbol,” Paltrow praised his work ethic, saying:

“He’s just a very polite, properly raised, I was going to say kid. He’s a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner.”
