Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans is exchanging heated words with rapper Soulja Boy on social media. The two artists have been engaging in replies and counter-replies on X, formerly Twitter, in a feud that keeps changing shapes. Follow along to understand what they have been arguing about.

On January 17, Soulja Boy performed at the Crypto Ball, held in honor of President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The event garnered a lot of negative publicity, particularly for Snoop Dogg, and Soulja Boy was one of the closing acts. As a result, Soulja Boy himself faced significant backlash and retaliation on social media.

Back and forth between Marlon Wayans and Soulja Boy

Reacting to Soulja Boy’s performance of his iconic ‘Crank that’ at the Crypto Ball, Marlon Wayans was also part of the backlash against Soulja Boy, saying Soulja Boy is already “canceled”. On an episode of 101.1 The Wiz (WIZF-FM), he further said that the performance was probably a misunderstanding.

“Bitcoin is a huge platform. So I think they thought it was a Bitcoin event, and they found out it was a ball that was, for him, and it was too late to pull out. But you know, that’s why you’ve got to check the fine print, you’ve got to know who you’re performing for,” Wayans said.

This prompted a reaction from Soulja Boy on X on February 10, which further snowballed into a heated exchange between the two. The situation took an even more personal turn when Soulja targeted Wayans’ transgender son and referenced Wayans' role in the 2004 comedy White Chicks, in which he played the role of an FBI agent who disguises himself as a white woman. Soulja said,

“Ain’t yo son a t—y that suck d—k? @MarlonWayans.”

Soulja also added,

“That f——t shit run in the family huh? @MarlonWayans no wonder u like dressing up as a b—-h it’s in ur blood.”

Soulja Boy referenced screenshots of Wayan’s acceptance and publicly expressing support for his son.

Wayans responded to Soulja’s attacks by calling him an irrelevant artist. He said on X,

“If @souljaboy had a career he could get cancelled for this type of slander. Luckily he ain’t been relevant since 2007.”

Marlon Wayans’ relationship with his children

Ever since Scary Movie star Wayans opened up to the media and fans about his son’s transition, he has constantly emphasized the love and support that he has for his son who is now called Kai. Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Wayans said,

“I have a daughter that transitioned into a son. My daughter Amai is now Kai."

Talking about his own parenting journey, Wayans admitted that he initially struggled with his son's decision but has since come to fully support him. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he shared a message of acceptance:

“once you accept, you release, give yourself to God and then everything is all right. It's better, actually.”

Apart from Kai, Wayans is also a father to another son, Shawn, and a two-year-old daughter named Axl. In 2024, it was reported that Wayans was involved in a legal dispute with Axl’s mother, who was seeking additional child support beyond the $18,000 per month she was already receiving. Addressing the matter, Wayans said:

“This is delusional. I will let the lawyers and God do what they do. I’ll be creating art from a broken heart. I got nothing but love. Even when it’s bad, it’s good,”

The social media feud between Wayans and Soulja Boy has touched on multiple personal matters, particularly involving Wayans’ family. For now, it remains to be seen whether their conflict will escalate further or eventually be resolved.
