Los Angeles is facing a devastating wildfire crisis, with multiple fires spreading across the region. Among those affected are actress Mandy Moore and socialite Paris Hilton, both of whom have lost their homes in the destruction.
The This Is Us star revealed that her Altadena home was completely destroyed in the Eaton Fire, leaving her "absolutely numb." Fires fueled by strong winds and dangerous conditions continue to persist in the city as well as around community landmarks, thus marking this period as one of the most catastrophic incidents in wildfire history.
Mandy Moore's heartbreaking loss due to Los Angeles fires
"This Is Us" star Mandy Moore posted on social media that her Altadena home completely burned down due to what is called the Eaton Fire. She initially shared that she escaped with her family, and pets and thanked first responders for their efforts. Mandy Moore then shared heartbreaking videos of her neighborhood the next day.
"This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home," She captioned on her Instagram story. Among the mentioned properties, their children's school building as well as some small businesses in the vicinity burned down in the fire.
After the destruction caused by the fire in her community, Moore made a pledge to assist in the reconstruction. "We have lost so much, but we will come together to select the way forward," she said.
Paris Hilton and Other Celebrities Impacted
Paris Hilton also suffered the wrath of the wildfire when her beach house in Malibu was engulfed in flames during the Palisades Fire. Hilton hasn't gone into much detail on the subject, though she did confirm that her house was among many destroyed in the quickly-spreading fire.
Other celebrities such as Spencer Pratt, Diane Warren, and Ricki Lake have also reported losing their homes to the raging wildfires. The wildfire moved to Pacific Palisades on Tuesday and quickly spread into Malibu and Santa Monica.
It was confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department on Wednesday that all of the fires currently burning in Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, and Woodley were at zero percent containment.
Over 16,000 acres have already been consumed by the fires fuelled by heavy winds and dry conditions. Emergency services are working round the clock to mitigate the situation, which remains severe.
Thousands of residents have been evacuated, and many are waiting for updates on the fate of their homes. For Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, and many more, it is personal. Fire has robbed whole communities of homes, schools, and businesses, leaving them to take stock when the danger has subsided.
