During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Gwen Stefani shared the secret to a happy marriage. Stefani and Blake Shelton have been together for almost 10 years and will be nearing their fourth wedding anniversary on July 3, 2021.

Stefani mentioned that having a "third party" join their marriage has helped keep it strong and going.

"Best advice would probably be, make sure you have a third party."

The singer was referring to God, and looked up and pointed a finger to the sky.

Stefani is a devout catholic and earlier teamed up with a Catholic App, Hallow, in November 2024 to promote their upcoming holiday campaign. Stefani joined singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle, contemporary Christian artist Matt Maher, and Nashville-based worship leader Sarah Kroger to lead the online campaign for the mobile app. The popstar has been vocal about her Christian upbringing and shared a picture of St. Cecilia on the feast day of the patron saint of musicians on November 22, 2024.

Stefani shared a picture of the holy card of St. Cecilia accompanied by a love heart emoji. The singer in a previous January 2021 interview on Today with Hoda & Jenna opened up about how turning to faith helped her get through difficulties in her life.

"For me, I was turning to my faith right away. That was a seed that my mom planted in me when I was a little girl...it's a journey. It's almost like you get lost, it's like you get lost on your journey. We all do and we all will and I will again at some point I'm sure.

Gwen Stefani talks about her marriage to Blake Shelton

Elsewhere during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Gwen Stefani revealed things she and her husband, Blake Shelton, do to stay connected with each other.

When Barrymore asked if she'd rather have a "date night out or a date night in", Gwen Stefani said,

"For sure in. I'm literally like - couch, blanket, cookies, chips. I have the dogs right here; we have two couches...Blake's on that couch and we're like 'Hi!.' I would sit next to him, but he's gigantic and we don't fit anywhere."

The two first met in 2014, when Stefani signed as a coach on The Voice Season 7. Gwen Stefani was married to Gavin Rossdale at the time, and Shelton was married to Miranda Lambert. However, by July 2015, both had finalized their divorces and began dating each other officially in the same year before getting married in July 2021.
