A PR Manager for former One Direction bandmate, Louis Tomlinson, during an interview with The Standard shared that the singer "could never" perform with One Direction after Liam Payne's death.
"Louis just despairs. He could never get up there and sing as part of the band after what has happened."
The comment is about rumors that have been circulating online after Liam Payne's death. As per rumors, One Direction members, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik were allegedly to reunite for a tribute performance for the late singer at the BRIT Awards on March 1. To the dismay of One Direction fans, the reunion did not end up happening.
Liam Payne died on October 16, 2024, at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, Buenos Aires, Argentina at the age of 31. According to BBC, as per a post-mortem examination, the cause of death was multiple trauma and internal and external haemorrhage after he fell from his hotel balcony.
Louis Tomlinson's tribute to Liam Payne
After Liam Payne was pronounced dead near the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, his former One Direction bandmate, Louis Tomlinson took to Instagram on October 17, to pay a tribute.
The post featured a photo of the two on stage holding their microphones, and the caption read,
"I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul. I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18 , I was instantly amazed by his voice."
Louis also shared a message to Liam saying that he was "beyond lucky" to have him in his life and is "really struggling" with the idea of saying goodbye.
He also promised that he would be there for Liam's son, Bear, as an uncle and will tell him "stories of how amazing his dad was."
All four former One Direction members were present at Liam's funeral in Amersham in Buckinghamshire, north-west of London in November, 2024.
Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy and his ex-girlfriend Cheryl, with whom he shares son Bear, were also present.
His family had released a statement following his death mentioning that they are "heartbroken" and that,
"Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul."
The five former One Direction members first met each other on The X Factor in 2010.
