The ACE Eddie Awards 2025 has been delayed due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Several other Hollywood events got interrupted due to the Los Angeles wildfires with the ACE Eddie Awards, including The Oscars, Critics Choice Award, Writers Guild Awards, and many others.
The Los Angeles wildfire has hugely impacted the lives of the Angeleans, including many Hollywood celebrities losing their homes to the raging fire. The wildfires first blew up on 8th January 2025, and the death rates due to the fires have increased to 25 now.
The 2025 ACE Eddie Awards delayed due to the Los Angeles wildfires
Having originally scheduled to be held on 18th January, the officials of the ACE Eddie Awards have now decided to postpone the event, including the foregoing annual cocktail party for the nominees of the ACE Eddie Awards too.
The ACE mentions the delay in their statement by saying:
“The ACE Board agrees it is smarter and safer for everyone to push to a later date (TBD). … This is unprecedented and we are trying to stay as fluid as possible. [As] soon as we have details we will let you know, and when the event finally happens we will need to band together more than ever before. Thank you for your understanding, and it goes without saying that our hearts go out to all of our members who have been affected by the fires and to our industry as a whole.”
Every year, the ACE Eddie Awards takes place at the Royce Hall in Los Angeles. Since 1951, these awards honor the work of artists in the category of Best Editing in films and television.
More about the ACE Eddie Awards 2025
Along with the scheduling changes, the nature of the event of ACE Eddies has changed as well, transcending from the usual red carpet gala to a community fundraising event for the Los Angeles wildfires. This time, it is more of an informal event with the core intent of solidarity and care, as opposed to a formal one. A part of the profits made by the tickets sold shall be contributed to the welfare of the Los Angeles wildfires relief.
This time, the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award shall be felicitated to director Jon M. Chu for his work in Wicked (2024), along with film editors Maysie Hoy and Paul Hirsch with the Career Achievement Awards. A few nominees of this year include Emilia Perez, Dune: Part Two, The Substance, and so on.
