Little Siberia: Netflix drops glimpses of upcoming Finnish film adaptation

Netflix has recently dropped glimpses of the upcoming Finnish film Little Siberia.

Directed by Dome Karukoski, whose previous directorial works include Beauty and the Bastard (2005), Burungo (2011), Tom of Finland (2017), and The Beast Must Die (2021), to name a few, this time comes with Little Siberia.

Little Siberia follows the plot of a pastor named Joel in a declining village of Hurmevaara.

Upon an unpredictable event of a meteorite shower on his town, Joel's life falls into chaos.

Whilst maintaining the safeguarding of the invaluable material, he also discovers truths in regard to his personal life.

The synopsis of Little Siberia, as per Netflix, goes as follows:

A pastor's faith goes upside down when a meteorite lands in his small Finnish town, its impact stirring up chaos and criminal intentions.

An official clip of Little Siberia has been dropped by Netflix.

The film is built on the critically acclaimed book Little Siberia, written by the revered Finnish author Antti Tuomainen.

However, the script of Little Siberia is penned by the director himself, along with Minna Panjanen.

The production of Little Siberia is under the companies Bufo and SF Studios.

Misha Jaari, Mark Lwoff and Ina Sohlberg are serving as the producers of Little Siberia.

Little Siberia stars actor Eero Ritala, who is known for his work in films including Fanatics (2012), Distractions (2015), and Fallen Leaves (2023), to name a few.

Along with him, we have Malla Malmivaara joining the cast of Little Siberia.

Her previous collaboration with the director Dome Karukoski is Forbidden Fruit (2009).

She also starred in Hustlers (2010), with her Little Siberia co-actor Eero Ritala.

Malla Malmivaara also starred in Dirty Bomb (2011), Nymphs (2013), Mustat lesket (2014-2016), and Star Boys (2017).

We also have Tommi Korpela in Little Siberia, who is once again collaborating with the director and the lead actors.

With Dome Karukoski and Malla Malmivaara, he worked on Forbidden Fruit.

His other collaboration with Dome Karukoski is The Home of Dark Butterflies (2008). Along with that, he has also starred in Distractions with Eero Ritala.

His other works include A Man's Job (2007) and Rare Exports (2010), amongst many others.

Along with them, actor Martti Suosalo also joins the cast of Little Siberia.

He has worked in films including Kulkuri ja joutsen (1999), The Rose of the Rascal (2001), and Jingle Bells (2022), to name a few.

In Little Siberia, he once again joins Eero Ritala, with whom he starred in Fallen Leaves.

Interestingly, Little Siberia has marked its name in history by becoming the first-ever Finnish film to be in collaboration with Netflix.

Little Siberia shall mark its release on Netflix on 21st March, 2025.
