Lewis Pullman's debut in the Marvel timeline as Sentry will alter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in more ways than one. As he joins the franchise with his first appearance being in Thunderbolts*, the actor is also set to return for Avengers: Doomsday.
Talking about his role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Pullman spoke to Deadline on the red carpet and said:
"I wish I had stuff to say, I'd happily leak it. I haven't heard a dang thing about it - but I'm excited that I'm a part of it, that was news to me. Danny Ramirez, one of my good buddies, is also in it. I had like 30 missed calls from him when I was shooting, and I was like, 'What the heck could have happened?!' He broke the news to me in a great way."
One of the more recent superheroes from Marvel Comics, Sentry is going to be an important part of the Thunderbolts*. Developed by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee, he didn't make his comic book debut until 2000. According to the comics, Sentry is actually a middle-aged man named Bob Reynolds who has no memory of his identity as Sentry.
The superhero, who has the strength of a million blazing suns, is forgotten by the world because Reynolds erases everyone's memory of the villain including his own. It will certainly be fascinating to watch how the MCU executes Sentry's narrative, even though its specifics are a little intricate.
In the trailers shared by the studio, Sentry's power is emphasized, as one of the trailers describes him, saying:
"He's stronger than all the Avengers rolled into one."
Meanwhile Jake Schreier, director of Thunderbolts* has hinted that Sentry might be one of the building blocks for whatever will happen in Avengers: Doomsday. Seeing as how he is a pretty influential character, it goes without saying that he will have a big role to play in the MCU.
