Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly set to play Evel Knievel in a biopic directed by Whiplash-fame Damien Chazelle.

According to the latest reports from Puck News, the film revolves around the famous Snake River jump by the iconic stuntman. DiCaprio is said to lead this project as Evel Knievel with Chazelle directing. It marks Damien Chazelle's return to directing duties after the commercially unsuccessful 1920s Hollywood opus, Babylon.

Leonardo DiCaprio's manager is reportedly negotiating a deal for the biopic, expected to go on floors in the summer. If it all ends well, this long-rumored film will finally see the light of the day. Per Puck News, the project was supposedly meant to be directed by Martin Scorsese with William Monahan's script.

Instead, the latest version includes a script from Scorsese's previous collaborator, Terrence Winter, known for his work on The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire besides his Oscar-nominated screenplay for The Wolf of Wall Street.

Puck News has just shared an update on a potential collaboration between Leonardo DiCaprio and Damien Chazelle. It is a biopic film that reportedly focuses on stuntman Evil Knievel's famous Snake River jump with filming supposed to begin this summer. However, the title has not been confirmed yet.

The update comes shortly after the announcement of DiCaprio's latest collaboration with Martin Scorsese. This crime drama is supposed to star Dwayne Johnson in the central role of an aspiring crime boss who fights rival crime factions for control of the underworld of the Hawaiian islands, per Discussing Film.

That's not the only project Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in since he has a few more projects on his roster. One of them is an adaptation of The Devil in the White City, helmed by Scorsese. The Revenant star is also going to be in Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming film, tentatively titled One Battle After Another, alongside Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor, and Benicio Del Toro. The film has recently wrapped shooting and will likely be released in 2025.

On the other hand, Damien Chazelle is returning with a directorial after his 2022 release, Babylon. During his Vanity Fair interview, he offered an update on his upcoming projects,

“My mind is all still figuring itself out in terms of what’s next. I’ve definitely been working on this thing that I might be jumping into—but there’s another thing I might be jumping into/ There’s two things that I’m toying with, so I need to commit to one lane or the other fast.”
