Just 7 months after dropping Harlequin, a companion piece to her leading role in Joker: Folie A Deux, Lady Gaga is back! The multi-talented star is set to make her much-anticipated return to the pop scene with the upcoming Mayhem, slated for release on March 7th, as per her label (via Interscope Records). As we get closer to all-out Mayhem, fans can look forward to the debut of the third single from her forthcoming album, as well as the accompanying music video on February 2nd during a commercial break at the 2025 Grammy’s. The previous two singles from the project, “Disease” and “Die With A Smile” have resonated with her supporters who eagerly await what’s to come. More here.
Back to Basics
Mayhem is slated to feature 14 songs, although the full tracklist has yet to be revealed. The absolutely unstoppable force confirmed that new music was in fact on the way at the end of the Gaga Chromatica Ball film premiere in Los Angeles last year, as a previously unheard song played over the words: LG7. Gaga returns.
Speaking about the album during the event's Q&A, Gaga explained (via Rolling Stone):
"I am in the studio every single day. I have written so many songs, I’ve been producing so many songs, and it’s nothing like anything that I’ve ever made before. I love to break genres, and I love to explore music. There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do."
More recently, upon honing the essence of her new project, she elaborated via Instagram “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” said Gaga. She elaborates by asserting that her process “reassembles a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
This serves as an indication that the fearless Gaga is not willing to become complacent or stuck in the past. Mayhem then, can be expected to be a reinvention of her earlier sensibilities rather than a simple retread of the past.
Prior to the Grammy’s, Gaga will be joining megastars Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks, and Joni Mitchell on stage to perform at FireAid on January 30. This charitable event is being held as a benefit for the communities that have been shattered and left in ruins by the Los Angeles Wildfires. Gaga is no stranger to giving back, and this marks yet another one of her philanthropic endeavors.
Following this, on March 17, she will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award at the 12th iteration of their annual awards ceremony, followed by her immensely anticipated headline set at Coachella in April.
