Kim Kardashian offered to pay $15,000 for a bible inscribed by her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr, from O.J. Simpson's estate. However, executor of Simpson's estate LaVergne has rejected the offer, since it had been under contract with the court to be auctioned off. He also mentioned that Kim Kardashian's offer was a "bad business model."
While speaking to People about the offer, LaVergne said,
"The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money - why would I spend $15,000 in attorney's fees - to sell it to Kim for $15,000? That's a zero-sum game. That's a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000 for it, we would've been in court getting this approved outside of the auction."
Simpson died of prostate cancer on April 10, 2024. However, his debt is still unpaid, and the executor of his estate, LaVergne, has started an online auction on Goldlin Auctions where he has listed the former Football legend's items.
The online auction includes a framed photo of Simpson and former U.S President Bill Clinton, signed by both men, and inscribed and signed Living Bible by lawyer and friend Robert Kardashian. His football memorabilia includes a replica of Simpson's 1968 Heisman Trophy, which he earned after becoming the first player in NFL history, a pair of gloves.
Why did Kim Kardashian bid to buy a gifted bible?
Kim Kardashian is Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner's daughter. Robert had gifted the bible to Simpson on the day of his arrest in 1994 on suspicion of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. Robert died in 2003, of esophageal cancer at 59. Inside the Bible, Robert dedicated a message to Simpson where he said,
"OJ, This book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.
Robert and Jenner's four kids, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Robert Jr. were all close to the Simpson family, and used to call him, "Uncle OJ" and his wife, "Auntie Nicole."
While speaking about Simpson's murder trial in June, 2024, Kim Kardashian said that she "loved" Ryan Murphy's 2016 award-winning series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
She complimented David Schwimmer's role as Robert, and said that she "thought it was done so well."
