During Paramount Studios’ CinemaCon 2024 presentation, CEO Brian Robbins shared some insight on the project.

“This script is one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read and it’s certain to create some fireworks.”

Pun intended? We know the comedy script was penned by American screenwriter Vernon Chatman, a frequent collaborator of Stone and Parker over the years. Beyond this relatively vague quote, no official synopsis or information is currently available for the mystery project apart from the A-grade talent that’s currently signed on for the ride.

The studio also used the conference to debut footage and trailers from the sequels to Smile and Gladiator, as well as announcing their intention to reboot the Scary Movie franchise.

Parker & Stone

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are best known for their work on South Park, the animated television show now distributed by Paramount. They do, however, bring box office credentials to the project with two feature films under their belts to date. Their big screen debut came in 1999 with South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Five years later, they followed with their sophomore release, Team America: World Police.

While South Park brought them to the limelight, their most significant and widely appreciated work came out in 2011. Alongside Robert Lopez, the duo created Book of Mormon, a musical that follows two missionaries as they attempt to preach their faith to the inhabitants of a remote African village. The play has won nine Tony Awards as it continues its run as one of the most successful stage performances of all time.

Their upcoming collaboration with the Compton rapper is currently unnamed. It’s noteworthy that while it isn’t your typical summer blockbuster, it will be up against some real heavyweight features at the box office. It is scheduled to be released just two days after the upcoming Jurassic World film and only seven days before DC’s vaunted Superman reboot from James Gunn.
