The 2025 Grammy Awards are fast approaching, and Kendrick Lamar has cranked up the heat by turning in the infamous Drake diss-track Not Like Us, as well as his song with Metro Boomin and Future, Like That, for consideration in multiple categories like Record/Song of the Year and Best Rap Song/Performance.

According to Billboard, if the 17-time Grammy winner bags this year's awards in both categories, it would be his fifth track to do so, alongside I (2015), Alright (2016), Humble (2018), and The Heart Part 5 (2023). Per The Hollywood Reporter, K.dot's name has been featured 10 times across 6 categories, making him an artist to look out for at this year's ceremony.

Not Like Us co-producer says the song has "a positive feel to it"

Kendrick Lamar's diss track undoubtedly took the world by storm when it dropped earlier this year, with its pointed cutthroat remarks propelling it to dominate the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Rap Songs, the latter of which it reigned over for a total of 14 weeks. However, concerns still linger about whether the track could nab an award, given the nature and connotations of its lyricism.

In June, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. told TMZ,

"I think the voting members of the academy appreciate greatness. They appreciate what’s hot, what’s going on. That’s a relevant record that’s impacting on so many levels. So much creativity and talent. I like to believe that the Academy members recognize that and vote appropriately.”

Sean Momberger, co-producer of the track, chimed in on the same, per Variety:

"When you think of a diss song, you think of a negative song, and Grammys like to celebrate positivity and greatness. But I think that’s why this song is going to be different, because it has such a positive feel to it and it’s such a celebratory song."

He continued:

"It started as a diss song, but after the first few weeks, it kind of departed from the rap feud. Now it’s just part of everyday life.”

According to DJ Akademiks' Instagram post from October 6, Kendrick Lamar's longtime producer Sounwave once revealed that the artist's track Euphoria was supposed to be sent in for consideration, but it looks like his team changed their minds. Only time will tell how the award show, slated for November 8, 2025, pans out for K.dot.
