With 2024 culminating soon, Jack Harlow has dropped his last single of the year, titled "Tranquility." In the official music video of his latest track, the 26-year-old is seen treading the streets of an overcast New York City.
Fans are already hooked to Harlow's two-minute and 31-second-long single, with many praising the flow, lyrics, and bar. In the song, the rapper touches on various topics, including addressing his fans, teasing his next project, and more. In the same track, Jack Harlow also talks about how he doesn't care about getting any "hip-hop credibility," in a way taking a dig at his critics,
"I ain't lookin' for no hip-hop credibility // Give a f*ck who feelin' me, I'm feelin' me //I'm really him, I'm really that remedy // Himothée Chalamet, pretty girls salivate // On the low, off the grid, in the cut, out the way // My prime's in full swing like a Callaway // I need a dime every dollar New Balance makes //Ain't 'bout to let the world take my smile away"
The Jackman artist asserted that he is in his prime and doesn't care about the critics. In the song, Harlow claims to care more about the money he makes through his deal with New Balance (and other ventures) rather than worrying about his critics.
Jack Harlow divides the internet over his "hip-hop credibility" verse
he "hip-hop credibility" verse seems to have divided the internet, with a section praising Harlow while others criticized him. One user cited Lamar's sixth studio album to take a shot at Harlow's verse, as they wrote,
"Damn, Kendrick gets proven right every day. – Let me go replay GNX real quick."
The comment was potentially about "Wacced Out Murals," reflecting on the hypocrisy of artists who K-Dot once admired. Coincidently, Lamar had reportedly praised Harlow in the past for his work on Jackman.
Other users chimed in with their criticism as well:
"Bro basically saying "yea I'll use hip hop idgaf" we can't keep letting them get away with this lmfao," another shared their disagreement.
"He bite off drake too much for me to respect his lyricism," someone targeted Harlow.
"Go ahead and start making country music then @jackharlow," another user added.
Conversely, some complimented the "Hello Miss Johnson" rapper for the bars and lyrics:
"Underground Jack finally back," one user posted.
"Jack Harlow being more lyrical than Kendrick wasn't how I expected 2024 to end," someone compared Harlow and K-Dot.
"Okay this sounds like he's cookin," another user praised.
"I'm not a Jack fan but he snapped and you have to respect it," one more complimented.
Reactions aside, Jack Harlow's latest track is already doing numbers, with the music video getting over 300K views within a day of its release. Harlow addresses his fans in another verse, promising his next project to be "exceptional."
The rapper also name-dropped Ed Sheeran and American music executive Julie Greenwald. He mentioned being in renegotiations with the label, as they are ready to drop his next record.
"Fans still say they miss Jack with the spectacles // Last project I was giving you conceptual // Next project I'll be giving you exceptional // F*ck everybody, got me on some pans*xual // Julie Greenwald askin if I'm on schedule // Label ready for the next record, I'll let you know // Bout to ask Ed Sheeran what they gave him // Last time that he went to negotiate the decimals"
Jack Harlow's latest track follows his November 2024 single "Hello Miss Johnson." The music video of his previous track featured the CCTV-found footage-styled cinematography. As of this writing, the two-minute and 51-second-long video has over 6.4 million views on YouTube.
