Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, is expected to step down from her post as overseer of the Star Wars franchise later this year.

The production company, founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, saw Kennedy join in 2012 in the co-chair capacity. Within a few months, however, Lucas sold the company to Disney, making a profit of $4 billion. It was then that Kennedy became president.

The news of her retirement has now sparked interest in her earnings and net worth, seeing as she ranks #46 on Celebrity Net Worth's list of Top 50 Richest Producers.

According to the outlet, Kennedy's net worth clocks in at $300 million, though it is combined with her husband, fellow producer Frank Marshall. Per the outlet, she is also the second highest-grossing film producer in history, having amassed a staggering $13 billion in global box office revenue.

The legacy Kathleen Kennedy leaves behind as an eight-time Oscar nominee:

Kathleen Kennedy is renowned for having relaunched the Star Wars franchise, first with J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). The film went on to gross over $2 billion globally. From then on until 2019, Disney came out with a new Star Wars film every year, though it took a break following the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The 71-year-old producer's tenure at Lucasfilm was not always smooth sailing, the Independent has reported. During Solo: A Star Wars Story, she fired Chris Lord and Phil Miller as directors, right in the middle of production. As pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter, however, the film went on to become the first of the franchise to lose money "theatrically."

She did the same with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards, and instead brought on Tony Gilroy to spearhead reshoots. The film later went on to become a $1 billion hit.

Kennedy is also renowned for having worked with Steven Spielberg on several projects, including the Back to the Future trilogy (1985-1990), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Empire of the Sun (1987), The Goonies (1985), The Color Purple (1985), Gremlins (1984), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) as well as the Indiana Jones films.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kathleen Kennedy has the credits of 70 films to her name as well as the nominations for eight Oscars. As for the next Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, it will come out in May 2026.
