Ralph Macchio has had an impressive filmography in his stunning career of three decades. Known for his roles in The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, Macchio is all set to reprise the character of Daniel LaRusso in Karate Kid: Legends. While he continues gushing about the martial arts film, the actor has also shed some light on a potential sequel to his iconic film My Cousin Vinny.
Macchio played the role of Bill Gambini in the film, who gets arrested for accidentally stealing a can of tuna. The comedy film explores Vinny (played by Joe Pesci) and his attempts to win the legal case for Bill while uncovering more crime.
Talking about if a sequel to My Cousin Vinny would ever see the light of day, Macchio told PEOPLE,
“Yeah, I've had conversations with other writers about that...That one's a beloved piece. It's about finding the smart angle in.”
He added that the only condition for there ever being a sequel to the movie would be that Joe Pesci returns for a role, even if it's a smaller one. The only setback is that Pesci has kind of taken a break from Hollywood. In the last two decades, the actor has only been a part of five films after having an impressive career in his active years from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Nevertheless, Macchio's statement still gives fans hope to see the duo of Pesci and Macchio together on screen again.
More details about Ralph Macchio's role in Karate Kid: Legends

Perhaps Ralph's most iconic role in his career remains to be Daniel LaRusso in five Karate Kid films and its spin-off Cobra Kai. As the protagonist of the franchise, Macchio enjoyed significant success with his role.
He is next being seen in Karate Kid: Legends, a film revolving around a new karate kid, played by Ben Wang as he is joined by Macchio and Jackie Chan who will be reprising their roles. Macchio has also wrapped up Cobra Kai, as the series reached its finale, bidding a tearful goodbye to the long journey of its legacy.
Talking about the show's ending, the actor told PEOPLE,
“It was really fan service and harkened back to the great ’80s movies. It felt like a big fat, ’80s movie. You're hugging the stranger next to you, just getting a little misty-eyed and a lot of F-yeah moments, and so we miss those in movies these days. So it was nice the guys were able to do that honestly and earnestly."
As for curious fans wondering if he would be back after Karate Kid: Legends to portray LaRusso again, the actor has given a hopeful statement as he told Variety last year,
“I don’t want to overstay the welcome of a character that’s so beloved. But he’s ageing like I am, so there could be other areas to explore as well. Never say never.”
Karate Kid: Legends is set to release on May 30, 2025.
