Rapper Aubrey Drake Graham released his album "$ome $*xy $ongs 4 U" on February 14, 2025. He collaborated with rapper PartyNextDoor on the album.

YouTuber Adam22 shared his reaction to the album through an X post on the same day. He wrote:

“Somebody explain this to me… Kendrick drops the hardest album of his career and in return Drake drops… the slowest, most boring, least memorable project of his career. I genuinely don’t get it.”

Social media users gave mixed reactions to his post. While some backlashed him, others agreed with his statement. One X user elaborated:

“Adam, there's no way you played the songs Nokia, Raining in Houston, and Gimme a Hug and then turned around and said with a straight face, "It's boring!" Just stop the cap!”

Netizens defended the Canadian rapper saying he had dropped amazing albums.

“Drake has consistently dropped amazing albums I’d say that’s ok for his tenth,” a social media user shared.
“Yeah, no. This album is so good. But it's ok if you didn't enjoy it. To each their own,” a netizen reacted.
“I just listened to it. He needs to come back harder than that that's for sure,” an online user opined.

X users noted that comparing the rapper and Kendrick Lamar isn’t justified as $ome $*xy $ongs 4 U is a collaborative album.

“Man, I know this was hard for you to post as a member of team Drake,” a person pointed out.
“This ain’t a drake solo project. You can’t compare the two. You’ll get the good sh*t soon enough relax bro this one for fun,” an internet user wrote.
“Its their project, not his and it was already planned. GNX isn't the hardest but definitely not the time Drake shouldve dropped lol,” a netizen remarked.

DJ Akademiks appreciated Drake’s new album

DJ Akademiks shared his thoughts about the album, calling it “pretty good.” He suggested that critics often focus on how well his songs perform rather than whether people genuinely enjoy them. He believes the Canadian rapper prioritized making music that resonated with listeners, regardless of chart success.

Akademiks also pointed out that both Graham and PartyNextDoor seem to have a specific approach or strategy behind their collaborations, indicating that he understands the creative direction they are taking. DJ Akademiks said:

“Okay this is an R&B album. This is not a rap album. I am not going to give it a 9 out of 10. I am going to give it like 8/8.4, just to be honest. 8/8.4 this is something that has a time and place reference where you would a ch*ck, you probably want to play, of course, is it all smashes, it’s not. I think that’s where we are at it.”

He opined that Graham’s projects got better over time because he would usually choose what kind of music he liked the most, like freestyles and number-one songs, for that matter. He found it a good album for a project meant to be R&B or the non-rap category.
