Ozark star Julia Garner has recently been in the news a lot owing to her upcoming horror reboot Wolf Man (2025) by Blumhouse Productions on January 17, 2025. Now, a fresh teaser from another highly anticipated movie of the same genre, Weapons (starring Garner), has piqued the excitement among fans.

Julia Garner will reportedly play one of the leading roles in Weapons alongside Academy Award nominee Josh James Brolin. Barbarian helmer Zach Cregger is the man behind the lens whose 2022 horror thriller earned impressive RT scores and grossed approximately $40.8 million in the United States.

Recently, Weapons lead star Garner has teased fans by mentioning that it will not be a "proper horror movie". She has even expressed her excitement about the upcoming project in one of her interviews with Collider.

Julia Garner drops teasers from her upcoming horror film Weapons

According to Collider, Julia Garner opened up about her upcoming project with Cregger in an interview with Perri Nemiroff. The star reportedly mentioned:

"It's not a proper horror movie. It feels very Zach Cregger in that element. There are some comedic elements to it. Barbarian felt like that as well. This also feels singular, so I'm excited. I'm excited for people to see it and hear their response."

Though Garner did not reveal much of the plot details in her statements, it is evident that the movie has a multi-faceted plotline that explores various elements like horror, thriller, and slasher.

The premise is set in a small town community in Florida where high school students suddenly start disappearing as a sinister force lurks around the corner. The movie will further build on themes like witchcraft, dark rituals, and generational trauma.

Following her streak in Wolf Man, fans will witness Garner in another round of spooky games as Weapons premieres in the United States on January 16, 2026, a year after. The official synopsis of the movie reads:

"An interrelated, multistory horror epic about the disappearance of high school students in a small town."
