After a strong showing as a solo artist last year JT aims to build on her success and carry her momentum forward into 2025. JT, whose real name is Jatavia Shakara Johnson, is now a Grammy-nominated rapper previously known for her work with the hip-hop duo City Girls, formed in conjunction with Yung Miami in 2017.
As the Florida-based “Okay” artist continues to forge her path ahead and cement her solo career, JT has just announced that she will be dropping a new track on Friday, March 21 called “Ran Out”. As the excitement for her upcoming single continues to mount, let’s take a look at how the talented rapper got to this point.
What We Know About “Ran Out”
While not much is known about “Ran Out”, JT’s upcoming single is still generating a solid amount of buzz from social media users. Fans of City Cinderella, JT’s first solo mixtape which dropped last year, have taken to various platforms to express their excitement for more of the rapper’s unique blend of flow and wordplay that make her truly stand out. Despite there being little information about the upcoming record, the official cover art dropped with her announcement and may hint at what we as the audience can expect.
In the newly released visual, JT is posing in a bikini on top of a truck holding on to what seems to be a stripper pole that’s built into the vehicle’s bed. Behind her are stacks of money, and a man watches her from up close as another dancer can be seen ‘dropping it down’ beside the truck. The bold single cover is empowering and shows the talented and confident star firmly in control. Similar to her past work, an emphasis seems to be on ensuring that the visuals are as enthralling as the song itself.
JT has done a brilliant job of marketing “Ran Out”, keeping her fans at the edge of their seats for months now with hints of an upcoming single. The former City Girls starlet has dropped various forms of sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes looks to generate hype around the track she can attribute directly to her solo success. This includes a mention of the upcoming track on the Grammys red carpet this year, marking her first appearance at the heralded event.
As a result, the excitement for her upcoming release is palpable, and the anticipation is undeniable as her devoted fans count down the hours until its release on DSPs. The track will be released through Quality Control Music, her label since 2020. Other notable artists on their roster include Quavo, Lil' Yachty, Lil' Baby, and former City Girls partner Yung Miami.
