The View’s Joy Behar caused quite the stir on this past Thursday’s episode when addressing the relationship between President Donald Trump and tech magnate Elon Musk. Behar claimed that Musk is closely involved with the President-Elect to boost his ego and was pro-Apartheid.

Behar later clarified her remarks after a brief commercial break, where she addressed her previous claims head-on.

“Now I’m getting some flack because I said that Musk was pro-apartheid. I don’t really know for sure if he was,”

The 82-year-old media personality then attempted to add context to her perspective,

“He grew up at that time when the apartheid party was in full bloom, before the great Nelson Mandela fixed that. He was around at that time. But maybe he was. Maybe he wasn’t. He might have been a young guy, too.”

Before deviating from the topic completely, Behar attempted to downplay her initial remarks while also speaking to the sanctity of her platform,

“So don’t be suing me okay, Elon? They’re allowed to say any lie they want, but we have to be really strict. That’s why this show’s important."

What Did Joy Behar Say about Elon Musk on The View

Before revising her claim about Musk, Behar spoke on his involvement with the current American president rather callously.

“Elon Musk kisses his butt and strokes his tiny ego — or big ego, whatever it is.”

She doubled down with even more scathing remarks after realizing her previous innuendo would not suffice.

“And [Trump] can take a nap while the guy, who was not born in this country, who was born under apartheid in South Africa — so has that mentality going on — he was pro-apartheid, as I understand it. A foreign agent; an enemy of the United States [can] do [Trump’s] job.”

Behar’s co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, notably served as Trump’s press secretary during his first presidential campaign before eventually resigning before his term was completed. While she claimed she was not a fan of Musk, she refused to push the envelope when prodded by Behar.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday’s show, before Behar’s most recent comments about Apartheid, she and co-host Whoopi Goldberg also made light of Musk’s son, X, in response to footage of Musk’s latest White House visit. Their exchange was not outwardly spiteful, but quite unnecessary, especially considering X’s age.
