Jorge Ramos, veteran journalist and legendary Univision news anchor, will depart from the network at the end of 2024. Ramos, also known as the Walter Cronkite of Latin America, has had a career that spans nearly four decades and a net worth of approximately $14 million as of 2024, according to Celebrity Net Worth. He announced his prospects of leaving the network after the US presidential election.

A press release on Monday, September 9, 2024, revealed that Ramos and the company had “mutually agreed not to renew their soon-to-expire contract agreement.” While the reason for his departure remains under wraps, he wanted the world to know that this was not an "immediate goodbye" to his career in journalism.

“This is not a farewell. I will continue anchoring ‘Noticiero Univision’ until December, and afterwards, I will share my professional plan. I am deeply grateful for these four decades at Univision and very proud to be part of a team that has established strong leadership over the years.”

Jorge Ramos says leaving is "difficult" and "sad"

As we look to 2025 and beyond, our talented team is well equipped to continue the tradition of journalistic excellence that has defined 'Noticiero Univision' since the beginning."

During the Noticiero Univision on September 9, 2014, Jorge Ramos reflected on his departure, describing it as "difficult" and "sad." He subsequently thanked everyone for tuning in before naming Univision his "second home." he said, in Spanish,

"I want to thank those who view us every night, who have accompanied me for so long, with so much affection and loyalty."
