Academy Award nominee, Jonah Hill, has just been announced to be a part of Warner Bros.'s upcoming project, Cut Off, where Hill would star as an actor while also picking it up as his second directorial venture for a feature film, as reported by The Hollywood reporter.
Hill has previously directed Netflix's Mid90s as his directorial debut, and later directed and created a documentary for Netflix, Stutz, that documented the life and career of psychologist, Dr. Phil Stutz, who was Hill's therapist. A humble production, Stutz centered on candid conversations between Hill and Stutz as they opened up on mental health and therapy.
Cut Off is said to be about two rich siblings, whose families stop financing them. Not much about the film's cast and crew has been revealed as of yet. It will go into production this year. The film has also received a $10 million California tax credit.
More details about Jonah Hill's work

Jonah Hill's attachment to the project can only mean good things for the film, considering the actor is well known for his performances in comedy, having bagged multiple accolades for his work. He is the recipient of two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street, also bagging a BAFTA and Golden Globe nomination for the former film. Apart from that, he was also nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Globes for his role in War Dogs.
His comedy works include The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Get Him to the Greek, 21 Jump Street, This Is the End, and 22 Jump Street. His work on drama films includes Cyrus, War Dogs, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot, and Don't Look Up. Hill has also frequently hosted Saturday Night Live.
Extending his acting credits beyond starring roles, Hill has also explored voice acting with his roles as Tommy in Horton Hears a Who!, Snotlout Jorgenson in How to Train Your Dragon franchise, Hal Stewart in Megamind, Green Lantern in The Lego Movie franchise, and Carl in Sausage Party.
Choosing his roles on screen is a tricky job for Hill who makes sure to pick characters who are morally good as he revealed in a 2013 interview with Variety, saying:
“I realized I had never seen myself playing a character who I didn’t think was a good person deep down, even if they were flawed. Even when I’ve played characters, like in ‘Cyrus,’ who are unlikable in some way, I felt like they had a good heart."
Jonah Hill is currently an executive producer of Sausage Party: Foodtopia and was last seen in Netflix's You People.
