Jon Bernthal is rocking a bald look in the first set pictures with Tom Holland of The Odyssey

The Odyssey is going to be a star-studded affair with the who's who in Hollywood. It has recently entered its production stage. Shortly after, a few on-set pictures started making rounds online, which featured director Christopher Nolan along with Tom Holland. Only a few hours after our initial report about these photos, new photos have appeared online. They show Jon Bernthal alongside Holland.

This was posted on the Instagram profile of Leonidas Christopoulos, the CEO of the Greek Center for Cinema, Audiovisual Media & Creativity - Creative Greece. According to the post caption, Methoni Castle and Nestor's Cave were used during the film's shoot in Greece.

The other reported filming locations of The Odyssey include Morocco and the Goat Island in Sicily. The latter is believed to be the place,

"where Homer envisioned Odysseus landed with his motley crew to barbecue goats and stock up on food."

In the aforementioned Instagram post, Jon Bernthal is seen sporting a bald look as he stands next to Tom Holland. It might be why Bernthal was wearing a cowboy hat during the SXSW premiere of The Accountant 2.

Unlike the previously revealed images of Holland on a ship, the new photos do not offer much insight into their characters. They do not show other cast members or their potential looks either. Still, Bernthal's distinctive look raises questions about his character in the film.

Until now, Matt Damon has been announced as the Odysseus. However, Holland and Bernthal's roles have not been confirmed. Many fans believe that Holland will be Telemachus, the son of Penelope and Odysseus. Yet, it's unclear who The Punisher star will play.

Bernthal's casting announcement came in January 2025. In a Reddit post shortly after this update, Christopher Nolan fans started speculating who Bernthal would play in The Odyssey.

CTG0161 shared their opinion on the same topic.

"Poseidon? Not sure who he [Bernthal] would be because he is not a very Nolan-style actor but I like it."

Another user responded, saying,

"I could easily see him playing Eurylochus or Antinous."

tasowd97 agreed with the prior guess, as they said,

"My bet he is someone from Odysseus' companions, maybe Eurylochus."

Ty__Rant also believed Bernthal would portray Eurylochus, the second-in-command on Odysseus' ship.

"Everyone [is] saying Cyclops, I say he [will] be pretty good as Eurylochus. Just look at how he played Shane in TWD, Icould see it."

Jon Bernthal is famously known for his spirited performances in The Punisher, The Walking Dead, The Bear, and Daredevil. So, he might be playing Eurylochus, who is reportedly an "unpleasant individual" who "stirs up trouble" in The Odyssey. However, no such detail has been confirmed yet.
