Harry Potter remains a successful and beloved film franchise and a book series. The fantasy series consists of several films adapted from the namesake series of books written by British author JK Rowling.

Recently, Rowling took to X (previously known as Twitter) to seemingly take a subtle dig at the stars of the Harry Potter franchise. This happened in response to a tweet that asked users about three actors who can ruin a film instantly. Rowling's response did not sit well with several users on social media.

On March 17, 2025, a username, @tradingMaxiSL, on X (formerly Twitter) named, 'Wolf of X' posted a tweet that read:

'What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?'

JK Rowling retweeted it on March 19 and wrote:

“Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible (laughing emojis)."

Several people believe that it was her way of taking a dig at Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint.

Fans react to JK Rowling's tweet

Several people took to the platform to express their views on Rowling's tweet. A user shared a picture of Watson, Grint, and Radcliffe who have starred in the Harry Potter films. The user wrote:

"My three guesses in one image."

Another user sided with the actors and called out Rowling for her remarks on the transgender community. The user wrote:

"They ruined the movies for you, but you ruined everything else for everyone else, at least for those with beating hearts."
"Those 3 owe you big time. In ten to twenty years time they will try to deny they we anti women rights," another user noted.

Another user called Rowling "a bitter old woman" who is trying to get attention by beefing with people younger than her:

"Classy. Real classy. There are better ways to get attention than trying to beef people 30 years younger than you, ya know, but no better way to look like the bitter old woman you've become. You're such a disappointment, JK"

A user stated that everyone has moved on from the pronounce debate except Rowling:

"The Harry Potter cast moved on. The fans? Moved on. Even the fandom drama moved on."

An X user wrote:

"Three guesses? 1. The same people who made millions off your work, then turned on you when it was ‘cool’."

In 2020, JK Rowling expressed her views on the changes made in the gender recognition laws of Scotland which was followed by her controversial views on gender identity. Before that in 2018, she had liked a tweet that mentioned trans women as men in dresses. Over the years, the author has defended her views. Watson, Radcliffe, Grint, and Eddie Redmayne have condemned Rowling's views and have supported the trans community.
