According to the statement:
"It is with deep sadness that we announce music legend Jesse Colin Young, who left a unique mark on the intersecting worlds of folk, blues, jazz, country, and rock & roll, died in his home in Aiken, South Carolina yesterday afternoon."
Sharing the unexpected news, his representative further stated:
"As the frontman of The Youngbloods, he immortalized the ideals of the Woodstock generation with 'Get Together,' an international hit that called for peace and brotherhood during the turbulent 1960s."

Unfortunately, they lost their home in 1995 due to a fire. After the distressing incident of their home burning down, the family moved to Hawaii.
The singer spoke about relocating following the heartbreaking accident. According to an SFGATE report, he said back then,
"My wife has a little coffee farm in Hawaii, and we're going to move there."
He described it as "very much a death" and said it was painful to see his house in such a state of ruin. He described the house burning down, saying, "You find yourself suffering, and five minutes later you're fine."
