Jason Momoa shares an important update with fans about his highly anticipated upcoming portrayal of the character Lobo in DCU's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In the comics, Lobo is described as an antagonist alien in the comics but the premise around his character in the film is under wraps for now.

Momoa, however, lets fans in on the fact that the film's portrayal of the character will stay true to its comic counterpart. In a conversation with ScreenRant, the actor talked about how he bears similarities to Lobo as he said,

“Well, this is the role I’ve always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I’m really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It’s pretty big. I don’t want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and … I’ll say the bike’s really cool.”

The Dune actor has not stopped talking about his love for the character. He has often opened up about Lobo being one of his favorite characters on print and how it is an honor to step into his shoes as he is adapted on screen.

In fact, Momoa had his eyes on Lobo even before he was announced to be a part of the project. Previously in an interview with Fandango, the actor talks about his interest in the character's live-action adaptation as he says,

“I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role. I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a fuck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.”

This won't be the first time Jason Momoa is working with the studio, having played the character of Aquaman previously in Aquaman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Zack Snyder's Justice League. The Aquatic Hero happens to be one of the projects James Gunn's DC has not yet picked up on, making things blurry for its future.

Momoa's new DC endeavor will be a part of Peter Safran and James Gunn's second film in the DC, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow which stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Jason Momoa and Emily Beecham.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to release on 26 June 2026.
