Spider-Man 4 will star Tom Holland as the titular web-slinger for the fourth time. The makers have only revealed the film's release date, which is July 24, 2026, and fans have been reportedly waiting with bated breath to know some details about the same.

Amid the anticipation, J.K. Simmons has said something regarding his involvement in the forthcoming superhero film. Simmons had appeared in the original Spider-Man trilogy by Sam Raimi. In these films, he played the role of J. Jonah Jameson who is the publisher of The Daily Bugle and Peter Parker works for him as a photographer.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, J.K. Simmon spoke about the possibility of his character J. Jonah Jameson returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with Spider-Man 4. When asked about his return, the actor chuckled and said:

“No spoilers. Sorry, I’m not telling.”

The character of Jameson in the MCU is slightly different from the Sam Raimi trilogy. Jameson is not Peter Parker's boss in the MCU, unlike the trilogy and this changes the dynamic between the two because of no direct connection.

In Far From Home, we saw how the character tried to destroy Spider-Man's reputation. So in the upcoming film, we might see Jameson's character having a substantial role.

As per Variety, in 2023, Tom Holland stated that he wanted to protect the legacy of Spider-Man. He said:

"I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy."

Holland said that he is not going to do a fourth film just for its sake:

"So, I won't make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character."

Holland has revealed that the shooting for Spider-Man 4 will begin in mid-2025. Destin Daniel Cretton is the director. He previously directed MCU's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. During his appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show, Holland revealed:

“Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go — we’re nearly there. Super exciting. I can’t wait!”

He also spoke about working with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in No Way Home and said:

“We were in a bubble. Tobey and Andrew would come to set in like a cloak, it was like something out of ‘Star Wars.’ It was hilarious.”

Spider-Man 4 will be released theatrically on July 24, 2026.
