Ivanka Trump and Karlie Kloss's relationship explored following Costa Rica vacation with husbands

Ivanka Trump, the former White House adviser, celebrated her Easter weekend in Costa Rica with her husband, Jared Kushner, and their extended family. She was also spotted spending quality time with her supermodel sister-in-law, Karlie Kloss. Kloss is married to Joshua Kushner, who is the younger brother of Ivanka's husband, Jared. Kloss officially tied the knot with Joshua Kushner three months after announcing their engagement in 2018.

Ivanka Trump and Kloss have had different political leanings, with Ivanka and her husband serving as advisors to Republican President Donald Trump, while Karlie and her better half have said that they share “liberal values." President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter has been away from the political spotlight since her announcement in November 2022 that she would be stepping away from politics, as her time in the Trump administration had taken its toll on her and she wanted to spend more time with her children.

After Karlie got engaged to American businessman and investor Josh Kushner, Ivanka congratulated the couple on Instagram. She commented that she was happy for the couple and referred to the American model as her ‘sister.' Her comment shed excitement as she stated that she looked forward to the decades of happy memories they would create as a family together.

Ivanka Trump and her brother-in-law, Josh Kushner, had mostly maintained a good bond for years. Back in 2017, Forbes noted that Josh even referred to Ivanka as his sister and not just his sister-in-law. Given their dynamic then, it would explain why Ivanka might have instinctively called Kloss her sister.

However, Josh and his wife have faced a dilemma for years, as they have been vocal about their liberal values and political beliefs. The couple has been known to align with the Democratic Party and opted not to back Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential run and publicly supported his competitor, Hillary Clinton.

In the report shared by Forbes, Josh explains,

"It is no secret that liberal values have guided my life and that I have supported political leaders that share similar values, but neither political party has a monopoly on the truth or on constructive ideas for our country. It's important to be open minded and learn from differing opinions."

Even with different political beliefs, Ivanka Trump has publicly supported Karlie Kloss’s endeavors over the years. She had cheered for her sister-in-law in March 2019 when she shared a video of her gushing over Karlie during the 17th season premiere of Project Runway on Bravo. A moment from the video shows the show playing behind them, with Ivanka turning to Karlie and saying, "Karlie, it’s happening!” in an excited tone.

Karlie had subtly shared about her relationship with Ivanka Trump in an interview with Vogue on September 11, 2018. Karlie stated,

“At the end of the day, I’ve had to make decisions based on my own moral compass — forget what the public says, forget social media. I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications. It’s frustrating, to be honest, that the spotlight is always shifted away from my career toward my relationship. I don’t think the same happens in conversations with men.”

Ivanka had posted a carousel of pictures from her Costa Rica trip on Instagram, dated April 22, 2025. ’ The post included pictures of surfing, horseback riding, and diving beneath a waterfall.

Her caption stated that she was grateful for spending Passover and Easter in Costa Rica with her loved ones. She also spoke about logging off and enjoying the time with her children.
