Rob McElhenney, who stars as the lead Ian Grimm in Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest, says he would love his show to have a crossover episode with another popular Apple TV+ series, Severance. Both the shows recently started airing their new seasons on the streamer.

McElhenney played a pivotal role in last month’s Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover, which aired on ABC. When asked if he would like to achieve a similar feat with Mythic Quest, the actor said the show can mix up well with Severance.

The former show is a workplace comedy revolving around the creators of a video game, while the latter is a sci-fi thriller that focuses on a company that has done an experiment on its employees to separate their on-work and off-work memories.

Rob McElhenney is open to a crossover between Mythic Quest and Severance

Rob McElhenney discussed the potential crossover in an interview with Decider. The actor and creator talked about the Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia special episode, and highlighted how a similar episode can be created with Apple TV+ shows:

“I feel like Severance and Mythic Quest aren’t that far away from each other. They’re both workplace-related. One is hell, the other is Severance.”

McElhenney added that mixing the two shows would be interesting, but he is not sure about how it would be a possibility:

“I’m not really sure how that would work, but I think it would. I think it would work pretty interestingly.”

While McElhenney is open to a crossover between the two shows, the event seems highly unlikely. While Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny have similar tones, Mythic Quest and Severance have different premises, tones, and settings.

One is a light-hearted comedy, while the other is a high-stakes dystopian thriller. Hence, a collision between the two worlds does not seem probable.

Rob McElhenney is the co-creator of Mythic Quest

Rob McElhenney not only plays the lead in the series but also serves as its co-creator along with Charlie Day and Megan Ganz. The show chronicles the employees at a fictional studio who have created the titular game. It also stars Ashly Burch, Jessie Ennis, David Hornsby, Charlotte Nicdao, and Imani Hakim.

On the other hand, Severance tells the story of the employees of the fictional firm Lumon Industries, who have gotten a chip implanted in their brains that bifurcates their work and home selves. Created by Dan Erickson, the show stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro in the main roles.

Mythic Quest is currently in its fourth season and drops new episodes on Apple TV+ on Wednesdays. Meanwhile, Severance has started airing its second season with new episodes coming out every Friday.
