"It’s my son’s favorite movie" - Ryan Reynolds reveals his 2-year-old’s pick from his work, with a Blake Lively connection

Ryan Reynolds, 48, is a Hollywood star, husband of Blake Lively, and father of four kids. The Deadpool actor has been a part of some of this generation's highest-grossing and loved films.

His and Lively's youngest son, Olin Reynolds, born in February 2023, has a favorite movie, and it features two of his life's most important people — his parents. In a recent conversation at the 2025 TIME100 Summit, the actor spoke about his youngest son's love for Green Lantern.

While this 2011 sci-fi movie is not "the most successful movie," according to Ryan Reynolds, his son's opinion of the film is quite the opposite.

In a conversation with TIME correspondent Eliana Dockterman, the actor said about Green Lantern:

"It’s my son’s favorite movie, he’s 2."

Hosted in New York, Ryan Reynolds was a guest at this year's prestigious TIME Summit. While the X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor revealed a lot about what happens beyond the acting world, he also took this opportunity to share his and his son's contrasting thoughts on Green Lantern.

Reynolds remarked:

"It’s just everyday, you’re like, ‘Oh, I need to heal this, I see."

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have four children: 10-year-old James Reynolds, 8-year-old Inez Reynolds, 5-year-old Betty Reynolds, and 2-year-old Olin Reynolds.

The Reynolds kids stay out of the spotlight most of the time. Unless it is a grand event or something significant to the family, they are kept away from the camera. However, the parents often share fun stories about their four kids in interviews and conversations.

Green Lantern is not only Olin's favourite movie, it is also a special movie for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. According to a People magazine report, the couple met while working on the DC Comics movie. While filming in 2010 for the 2011 release, they had the chance to interact regularly and also know each other as they portrayed an on-screen couple.

On September 9, 2012, Ryan Reynolds married Blake Lively at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina. Their private wedding made headlines for a long time, because they had kept it a secret initially.

According to People, while chatting on SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio Deadpool Special, Reynolds revealed about the earlier days of knowing his wife and dating her later. He shared:

"We were buddies for a long time, which I think is the best way to have a relationship, to start as friends."

In December 2010, Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson announced their separation and got divorced in July the next year. After that marriage ended, Reynolds was single for some time and headed to a double date where Lively tagged along with a different guy.

Recalling that date, Reynolds said:

"About a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and we were both single, we went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy, and I was on a date with another girl and it was like the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across."

Years later, they are now happily married, parenting four kids, and are regarded one of Hollywood's favorite couples by many.
