Harry Potter is a franchise that has millions of followers across the globe. Adapted from the namesake series of children's fantasy books by J.K. Rowlings, the franchise started in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and concluded in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. All these films have been critical and commercial successes.

Jason Isaacs had played the role of Lucius Malfoy in the film franchise. Recently, the actor spoke about the impact of the films. However, he does not have the best memories of shooting those films. Let's find out what exactly he said.

Jason Isaacs believes shooting for Harry Potter was not fun

Jason Isaacs recently appeared on BBC’s The One Show where he spoke about his experience of doing the fantasy film franchise. During the conversation, the actor had a confession to make as he stated that it was not fun to shoot for those fantasy films. He said,

“It’s quite boring making big special effects films; however, the pleasures all come afterward."

Isaacs then acknowledged the impact of those films on people's lives.

"I see and meet people for whom their lives were changed by it, and still people reading it and sharing it with their children. Some people say their lives were saved by it, and I believe it.”

He then added,

“Even though I was in the films, when I’ve taken godchildren or nephews and nieces to the [studio tour] and the thing comes up and suddenly you’re in the Great Hall. Every time, I burst out in tears. It’s incredibly moving and overwhelming. There’s some magic that happened in those stories.”

The first film in the franchise was called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was helmed by Chris Columbus. It had an entirely English cast, including Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed the titular character. The film was released on November 16, 2001, in the United States, and it ended up grossing over a billion USD at the box office.

Its success led to several other installments that were based on different books in the series by J.K. Rowlings. The franchise concluded in 2011 with Deathly Hallows – Part 2. In this film, Potter eventually manages to eliminate the Horcruxes of Lord Voldemort to stop him.

HBO has commissioned a television series on the franchise, and the maiden season is expected to be released sometime in 2027.
