"It's pretty cool that Amber and I..." – Rob Mariano shares how his wife lets him play poker on their anniversary, knowing they’ll celebrate later

Television personality Rob Mariano recently shared an anecdote from his personal life that shed light on the nature of his relationship with his wife, Amber Brkich.

As per a report by People Magazine, Mariano did not spend his wedding anniversary with his wife, and instead, he spent the day playing poker in Dublin. Mariano was competing in the Irish Poker Open, the longest-running competitive poker tournament in Europe.

Mariano, while speaking to People Magazine about missing out on spending time with his wife on their anniversary, said:

“It's pretty cool that Amber and I have the relationship where she lets me go play poker in Ireland on our anniversary, knowing that we'll celebrate it later…It's never really been about the day as [much as] it is about each other.”

Rob Mariano and Amber Mariano’s relationship is explored

Rob Mariano met Amber Brkich during the filming of the reality show Survivor, where both of them were contestants. Survivor is a reality television competition in which the contestants are taken to a remote location where they must survive according to the rules of the game.

Rob Mariano has appeared in six editions of the reality television show and boasts the most appearances by any contestant. His wife, Amber Brkich (now Amber Mariano), has appeared in three seasons of the show.

The couple met during the eighth season of Survivor, titled 'Survivor: All-Stars.' Brkich won the season, while Rob Mariano was the runner-up. According to NBC, Mariano proposed to Brkich live during the season finale, and she accepted his proposal on the spot.

Sharing her feelings about the televised proposal, Brkich, as per NBC, said:

“The fact that Rob proposed before he knew who won just seals it right there for me…this is for real.”

Brkich received a million dollars as the winner of the show, while Mariono received a quarter of a million as the runner-up. The couple got married in 2005, after being engaged for more than a year.

The wedding ceremony took place on the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas. As per US Weekly, the wedding and the preparations leading up to the ceremony were the subject of a two-hour CBS special show, titled, Rob and Amber Get Married. It was aired a month after the couple’s wedding.

In 2009, four years after they tied the knot, the couple welcomed their first baby girl. The couple has been married for two decades and has four daughters. The family is settled in Florida.
