Veteran rapper Algernoid Lanier Washington, known by his stage name Plies, made headlines on November 6 by suing Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, GloRilla, and Soulja Boy. He alleges that the artists stole elements of his 2008 song, Me & My Goons, without asking him first.

As per court documents obtained by TMZ, Plies alleges that Soulja Boy used the track for his 2010 hit Pretty Boy Swag. He also claimed that Megan and Glo used the same beat on Wanna Be and a remix featuring Cardi B., which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After @theneighborhoodtalk posted the news on Instagram, rap fans commented, agreeing with the veteran rapper.

LilJuMadeDaBeat, the producer who worked on Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla's song, took to social media on November 6, claiming that Wanna Be credits the sample to Big E. Lil Ju also noted that Plies' song was released in 2008, while Soulja's My Dougie, also named in the lawsuit, was released in 2006. The producer also claimed that the credits of the original song elements should go to Big E.

More about Plies' lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy

Plies named Megan Thee Stallion's Hot Girl Productions, Collipark Productions, Universal Musical Group, Collective Music Group, and Interscope Records as defendants in the recent lawsuit.

The producer behind Megan Thee Stallion's track, LilJuMadeDaBeat, clapped back at Algernod, claiming that the track has credited the person who made the original beat: Big E.

Lil Ju has recently crafted beats for Megan's Hiss track and has also collaborated for years on viral hits such as 2018's Big Ole Freak and 2020's Body. Hiss became a hit right after it was dropped and became a No. 1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 charts on February 5, making Megan the second female rapper after Cardi B in U.S. history to achieve multiple chart-topping records.
